Dental implants come in many varieties and are most definitely not as scary as they sound, in fact they are your seamless and carefree option that once fitted won’t fall out. They can replace several teeth, a simple single tooth or even an entire jaw of teeth!
Implants are essentially a screw like fixture that is placed into the jaw where the missing tooth or teeth are, effectively replacing the absent roots from the old tooth. Over time the bones in your jaw will grow around the implant helping to hold it into place, eventually achieving a new full functioning tooth.
Without choosing dental implants and by not replacing a missing tooth, a number of problems can arise such as:
- Affecting your speech
- Gaps when you smile
- Missing back teeth such as molars can make chewing a difficult task
- Surrounding teeth can shift
- A missing tooth can cause bone loss in that area, this may lead to surrounding teeth becoming loose over time
Types of Dental ImplantsThe main types of implants available at your local dental practice are single biocompatible screws or All-on-4 dental implants which are used to support an entire arch of teeth. Both options supply the patient with a permanent option of replacement teeth.

Implant treatment time and procedure is subject to the individual case however, it will begin with initial consultations with your dentist, followed by required x-rays. Your dentist can now determine appropriate treatment and have implants prepared for the day of surgery.
At Saratoga Dental our friendly and highly experienced team are here to guide you through your options and will discuss everything with you.
