One on One with Lisa Bryant our Oral Health Therapist

Lisa Bryant is our lovely Oral Health Therapist and we thought you might like to get to know a bit more about her, what makes her tick and what she likes to do outside of the practice too.

From bungee jumping and sky diving to being attacked by a shark, this young lady has many interesting stories to tell.

See below for a one on one interview with Lisa Bryant:

What made you become an oral health therapist?

I have always loved working with people and have a strong interest in health. I decided to return to University and complete further study to become an oral health therapist so that I could learn more and do more to help my patients.

Where have you practiced previously?

For the last three years I had been running the “Senior Smiles” oral health program in an aged care facility. The aim of the program is to have an oral health practitioner in all residential aged care facilities so that residents have access to appropriate and much needed oral care
What are your special dental care interests?

What are your special dental care interests?

I love the preventive side of dentistry. I love working out why oral health issues may be occurring and finding ways to prevent further issues from occurring that are individual to each patient. I also love working with children and patients who may be nervous/ anxious about dental treatment and finding ways to provide them with a positive dental experience

Why would patients want to come to visit you?

I try to provide all my patients with a relaxed and positive experience. I understand a dental appointment isn’t most people’s idea of fun however I try to make it as enjoyable as possible with a caring and gentle approach.

What do you like to do outside of seeing patients?

I like to spend time with family and my two dogs, head out for trivia night with friends and catch up on a good TV series

Anything else your patients might find interesting about you?

• I’m a member of the Australian Dental and Oral Health Therapists Association (ADOHTA)
and the Dental Hygienists Association Australia (DHAA)

• I’ve been on two trips to Indonesia (one to Halmahera in the Maluku islands and one to Soe, West Timor) to provide dental treatment and oral health education

• I’m a big fan of the South Sydney Rabbitohs rugby league team.

• I scuba dive and have my very own shark attack story to tell (I’m fine but ask me next time you see me at the practice)

• I’ve been skydiving a few times, bungy jumping and various other adventure/ adrenaline activities, I find them more fun rather than scary
