What Are Dental Implants?

A dental implant is a screwlike anchor that is used as an artificial replacement for natural tooth roots. Dental Implants are made of materials that are compatible with the human body, such as titanium. Implants have been used for decades in upper and lower jaws. Dental implants can be used to replace a single tooth or several teeth or to support partial or full dentures. Implants and crowns remain inside the mouth and do not require any adhesives to hold them in place.

Natural-looking

Dental implants are the most natural-looking restoration option, and are ideal for replacing missing or badly diseased teeth. They are also a great alternative to dentures.

Who is suitable for dental implants?

Dental implants are a restorative dental treatment, particularly suitable for patients who may have missing, decayed or broken/chipped teeth.

The ideal candidate is an adult with healthy gums, who is healthy enough for surgery.

Common questions answered on dental implants

What are Teeth on Implants® Dental implants?

The Teeth on Implants® dental implant system is a revolutionary dental technique that offers a permanent solution to missing teeth and loose or ill- fitting dentures. The treatment refers to supporting all teeth on multiple implants, making them look, feel and function just like natural teeth. The procedure is particularly suitable for patients who may have missing, decayed or broken/chipped teeth.

How is an Implant Inserted?

Although there are many types of implants, the types can be divided in to two basic groups.

  1. Those that are inserted INTO the bone.
  2. Those that are placed OVER the bone.

In both instances, the implants are placed UNDER the tissue and extend into the mouth.

Are dental implants better than dentures?

Dental implants are often the most popular choice for replacing one or two missing teeth. They are the preferred option for replacing teeth because they preserve the health of the jawbone and gum tissue while most closely replicating the aesthetic appearance of your teeth. While dental implants give patients a secure, sturdy bite, dentures can be tricky to wear, less secure, and can even restrict your food choices.

How long do dental implants last?

If cared for correctly, your dental implant should last a lifetime.

How much do dental implants cost?

Every patient is different and has unique needs, but the cost of TEETH ON IMPLANTS® to replace a full set of upper or lower teeth starts at $19,800. Note that single implants will be less, and payment plan options are available.

If you’re looking for a more cost-effective option, we also offer implant retained dentures, which combine the benefits of both dental implants and dentures. These can work as a great stopgap while you save up to afford TEETH ON IMPLANTS® dental implants.

To determine suitability and obtain a quote, please organise an assessment with one of our dental implant experts.

What if I am anxious or scared of dental treatment?

We understand that many patients feel anxious about treatment, pain or may just generally fear the dentist this is why we offer our patients various sedation options, and our caring team will make you feel at ease every step of the way.

Will there be discomfort?

Just as with any surgery, there can be some pain (discomfort). However, anaesthetics and sedation eliminate pain (discomfort) during the actual surgery. Postoperative pain (discomfort) will be like that of having teeth removed. Patients will be provided with medication to alleviate this pain (discomfort).

Are payment plans available?

We have a range of payment plans to enable our patients to access the treatment they require including zip pay, open pay, after pay.

Can I access my super to pay for dental treatment?

Yes, you can potentially access your super for dental treatment. Please ask our friendly team for more information and to find out if you are eligible.

How long will I need to take off work?

Generally, we recommend the day of the surgery, plus the following day off for recovery. You can expect to have some swelling, pain (discomfort), possibly some bruising. The time taken off from work is really an individual decision.

Are all Implants successful?

No. There are many variables to be considered in the placing of implant(s). First, the patient must be healthy. There must be adequate healing powers present in the patient. For example, if the patient is an uncontrolled diabetic, inconsistent healing and could complicate the procedure. If such a condition develops later after the implant(s) has been done, this too may complicate the future of the implant(s). Second, a proper diagnosis must be made, and the proper implant, placement and procedure must be selected for the individual patient. Third, the implant(s) must be treated properly by the patient and the dentist. If either person is neglectful, there could be complications. Fourth, if the patient is a heavy smoker or an excessive alcoholic beverage consumer, the success of the implant(s) will be affected.

Please note that all surgical procedures carry risks, including infection. These treatments do not apply to and cannot be performed on anyone. A process of thorough examinations and assessments is required, and the outcomes may vary depending on multiple factors.
